Abstract
The purpose of this research is to improve science learning outcomes in class VI in topic specific characteristics of living things in the State Primary School 023 Long Ikis. This research method is Classroom Action Research (Classroom Action Research). The action consists of two acts performed in two cycles. Each cycle consists of four stages, namely, Planning, Acting, Observing and Reflecting. The class studied were sixth grade students of State Elementary School 023 Long Ikis the number of students 20. Having implemented the first cycle teachers implement instructional practices that directly results obtained in the first cycle class average value increased to 66.50. In the second cycle the average value of 84.50. So the initial conditions to the final conditions there is an increase in learning outcomes from an average 54.50 into 84.50. Based on action research conducted through two cycles, obtained significant improvement, so it can be concluded that the method of problem solving can improve science learning outcomes in class VI SDN 023 Long Ikis on the topic of the special characteristics of living things.
