Statistical figures of visitor arrivals were drawn fro data colection and processing of the visitor embarkation and disembarkation cards issued by the Directorate General of Immigration.
Visitors may enter Indonesia through more than 80 gateways 56 of which are seaports. The eleven main airports are Soekarno Hatta (Jakarta), Ngurah Rai (Bali), Polonia (Medan), Sekupang (Batam), Juanda (Surabaya), Sam Ratulangi (Manado), Entikong (Pontianak), Tabing (Padang), Adi Sumarmo (Solo), Selaparang (Mataram), and Hasanuddin (Makasar).
Statistics on hotel occupancy rates and other kinds of accommodation were complied and processed by the Central Board of staticrics. Tourism revenues, visitor length of stay as well as breakdown of tourist expenditures were obtained from the passenger exit survey conducted annually by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
