Abstract
The aims of mapping are to determine: (1) teacher professional competences in learning national exam materials (UN), (2) the map of teacher competences in learning national exam materials, especially in East Kalimantan. This research used descriptive method, which was aiming to gather and obtain information regarding teacher competences; using the research contrivance of ex post facto, we could see the map of teacher competences in prevailing academic materials, and teaching implementation plan (RPP), which is referred to as the prevailing/mastery of teacher competences. The conclusion of the mapping results can be described as follows: (1) the teacher competency test was found as an effective way to determine teacher’s prevailing capabilities of the study fields, learning materials, and theory implementation for organizing the learning plan. (2) Teachers that had followed the competency test mostly can be judged as a competent teacher, in average number of 60% (59.3%), even though there are still 40% that can be concluded as incompetent. According to each city, the percentages are relatively equal in comparisons; for instance: in PPU, 12% of the participants can be listed as incompetent, compared to 14% that’s competent. While in Balikpapan, 26.7% can be listed as incompetent, and in the opposite 26% can be listed as competent. And in Samarinda, 61% can be listed as incompetent and 59.5% as competent. (3) The answered of teacher competency test did not depend on the level of educational background,
and teaching or training experiences, rather than it depends on the innate talent/ability of each teacher. (4) If we connected it with the teacher certification, we found out that there are incompetent teachers (5%) that professionally have certifications.
